State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the newly constructed Gajaldoba Suspension Bridge virtually on Monday, marking a significant infrastructure development in the region. The inauguration took place during a virtual event organized at Tarun Sangh Maidan in Banarhat, Jalpaiguri district, where the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects.
The Gajaldoba Suspension Bridge, built at a cost of Rs 109 crore, is a crucial element of the 'Bhorer Aalo' mega tourism center in Ghajaldoba, Rajganj block, a project considered the Chief Minister's dream initiative. Modeled after Sydney's Harbor Bridge, the suspension bridge has undergone construction for four years to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the tourist center. Post-inauguration, the bridge is now open to the general public.
